We still get silly on hotdog rolls.

    Artist: Starship
Real Lyric: We built this city on rock and roll.

    The story:

My wife and I were riding in our car as I was enthusiastically singing along with the car radio. As I sang my version of the lyrics, she turned down the volume and asked me if I were nuts. Her contention was that "getting silly on hotdog rolls" made no sense and stated what she felt were the correct words. I countered with the notion that cities have been built on the sides of hills, on toxic waste dumps and even on stilts, but never, to my knowledge, "on rock and roll" and therefore HER version made no sense. In fact, I pointed out, I remember going to a picnic back in the sixties at which I consumed five hotdog rolls (each containing a hotdog of course) and clearly recall (well, maybe not clearly) feeling quite silly for most of that day. She restated her contention that I was in need of aggressive therapy, and we never discussed it again. But I mean really.....who ever heard of building a city on rock and roll........come on.
