You get on the bus from the Corn Exchange

The story:

I first heard this song when I was about 13, and I thought it was "you get on the bus from the Corn Exchange", although I didn't know which Corn Exchange they were referring to. Whenever I went to the Corn Exchange in Manchester (where there was once a collector's record stall), I used to ask the stall owner if this was the Corn Exchange where people get on the bus from. He didn't have the foggiest idea what I was talking about. It wasn't until I first found the true lyrics on the Internet that I discovered I'd got it wrong.
