The story:

I knew this was the wrong lyric, however I used to sing it that way to amuse myself. Since this song is easy to learn on the guitar I would often teach it to beginners to learn simple blues picking. I became so accustomed to my twisted lyric it was unlikely for me to use the original ones leading to puzzled looks from a student who were not familiar with the song at all.
