The story:

I'm not sure, really. Either I saw the lyrics on a website, or I simply listened closely and realized the connection of "trim" with the barber. But it always sounded to me like "tren", which I took for a clipped British pronunciation of "train". In my defense, all I can say is that "trim" doesn't really rhyme with "in", "m" and "n" are different sounds.
