Hey, I'm a northeasterner, almost as far from California as you can get without having a maple leaf on the national flag. I didn't know what colitas were. I'd never heard of them.
I didn't think "coitus" was really the right word either, but that's sure what it sounded like to me.
I discovered the real lyrics when I was jamming with some friends and we happened to play "Hotel California." At the end of the song I asked the guy who sang, "Hey Mark, what the hell are colitas?"
