The story:

It was actually my mom who misheard. As a teeneger, I had bought the album and was listening to that particular song over and over again. She asked me what it meant and when I said that I didn't know, she said "Why not? You took French in school." So I said "What's French got to do with it?" So, she repeated the line and said "It sure sounds like French to me." I was literally rolling around on the floor laughing. Years later, I was repeating the story to a friend, who just happens to be be the same age as my mom, and she couldn't see what was so funny. She thought the exact same thing as my mom did. I laughed just as hard that time (I think there may have been alcohol involved).
