The story:

Johnny Hollow is notorious for the use of ominous themes and
lyrics. You can't get much more ominous than a dagger burning
with love. Which I pictured as a dagger meant to pierce someone's
heart in a crime of passion. I pictured someone who knew the
dagger was meant for them and spent sleepless nights worried.
I didn't even hear the word 'hope' in this song at first, but it really
turns the lyrics upside-down from what I was thinking they were.
