My friend Serge and I were huge ELP fans. Back in 1975 or so when we first heard this tune, there was no internet, and few ELP fans around to check with, and our version included Weebles, so it inherently made sense.
Anyway, the concept of someone being caught in a web of his own making would have been lost on a couple of 13-year-olds who liked the idea of Weebles wobbling, not falling down, and arming themselves.
