The story:

the funny part of this goes back to about 1972 when
my friend Paul Delaney and I BOTH heard the first
line as "the creature's made of brass" Paul made up
new following lyrics based on the misheard "brass"
and he continued with "set every single hair on his
ass" We never heard "prayer" Even now after
knowing the correct lyrics, I can still hear "made
of brass"
