I've always assumed that I was hearing it
wrong, but I couldn't figure out what it was.
My best guesses were chamomile, Camembert, and
camel hair.
I just looked it up a minute ago, and I can't
believe they're saying "cambric." There are
three distinct syllables!
Then again, it's supposed to be impossible
tasks, so ...

It sounded like three syllables to me as well. My version was "cavalric". What the shirt had to do with the cavalry I had no idea. The impossible part of the task is of course the "no seam or needlework" stipulation.
