The story:

I had completely forgotten the song and my childhood misheard version, until one day my mother found an old tape she made of me singing it and played it back to me. this was in my teens, and i was about 5 when the tape was made. she then went into elaborate nostalgic detail about how i would do a special dance and sing along whenever the original song was playing. my parents never told me the words were wrong at the time, as they found it too funny.
