Just last night (January 27, 2002) I heard the song on one of those syndicated oldies shows, and I heard the "correct" lyric so clearly, I thought it was an alternate take! Then I realized that this was no alternate take; for 25 years (at least), I've heard the lyric wrong! I couldn't help break out laughing in my car.
