The story:

The embarrassing moment for me was that this was not the only song that I was mishearing. Worse, was Kodachrome by Simon and Garfunkel, where I was somehow hearing, "Momma don't take my clothes and throw'em away!" I have been hearing misheard lyrics all my life. Worse than that was in "God Bless America" where I was hearing "Stand beside her, and guide her, through the night with a light from a bulb!" How much more embarrassing can it get?? Do you want to hear all the others now??? Your sides are probably splitting already. Just remember, my mind started rotting from the very first time I started reading Mad Magazine in October 1956. From then on, I was rehabilitated! It was the only way I could retain my sanity in a world threatened by H-Bombs and worse in Washington, D.C. Thanks for providing an outlet for me to share my mishearings along with everyone else! CJ
