Several friends of mine decided that this was the correct version of the lyric and would sing it loudly wherever we went (dances, parties, sports events, etc). We were pulled aside by a teacher one day to inform us that we were singing the lyrics wrong and that we should get it right. This only pushed us to sing it the wrong way from that point forward. To this day we sing it wrong (much to our spouse's dismay).
