I never really questioned MY version of the lyrics until I was at a bar and the song was on the jukebox. The jukebox plug got kicked out, so a group of us kept on singing...nobody really knew the lyrics to that part, but I thought I did...loudly. The singing suddenly stopped...everyone looked at me..."What? James Brown??". At least I tried.
I bought everyone a round, nothing more was said about it.
