The Story: Don't eat the fruit in the garden, Eden,, It wasn't in God's natural plan., You were only a rib,, And look at what you did,, To Adam, the father of Man.
The Story: You smell like goat, I'll see you in hell
Most people know the two songs have the same melody, but as a first grader who learned the song from his British aunt, I was at a disadvantage. We had to sing at another **sembly and of course we were all embarrassed to sing, so we mumbled most of the words. However, when it can time for this part, Aunt Hilda taught me to sing with pride. Above everyone, my voice cries out "God save the King". Most parents chuckled and mine tried to disappear.
I was not totally embarrassed since it made sense to me. I did go to Catholic school, and made sense to save our "King"... alas, our more stodgy parents gave my parents an earful. At least Aunt Hilda was proud of her little Brit... born in Ohio!
