I had been singing the song this way since I was a little girl. One night I was at a friends house and we were listening to Billie Jean and I'm just singing along until I realize that everyone in the room was staring at me. Upon asking what they were looking at, they burst out laughing and called me an idiot. Then they told me what the lyrics really were.
