This was a fairly obscure '60s song that came out
when I was about age 10. As with several other
tunes, I heard "Rag Doll" because I thought it had
become a recurring rock 'n roll meme since the
Four Seasons hit. The lyrics aren't very clearly
sung and the tune isn't often played, so out of
curiosity a few yaars ago I looked it up.

I hate to say this, but your "real" lyric is a misheard lyric as well. It's "Keep on dancin' and a-prancin'", not "Keep on dancin' on a frying pan".

Jeesh. I've heard certain kinds of dancing described as, "step like you're standing on something hot." Oh well, it's closer than my original 1965 mishearing...
