I've got a girlfriend with bolts in her head

The story:

It wasn't me - it was my mom. The thing is, she was alive when the Talking Heads existed, and was far more familiar with their stuff than I. And one day, we're watching their film "Stop Making Sense," and my mom brings up "the line about the girlfriend with bolts in her head" (it was either "head" or "hair") - I guess she pictured some sort of Frankenstein's Monster in the song. But when the line came along, it was certain to me right away that it was "buns" and not "bolts." Strange. By the way, the "Have you ever convinced anyone..." and "Age when you realized" are my mom's stats, not mine.
