The story:

Another "misheard" lyric in a radio version (fortunately heard when I was entirely alone - happened to be listening to the radio). I was almost shocked when I discovered the true lyric ten years later (only heard it when I belatedly bought the CD wanting to catch back up with this classic song), except that such a thing doesn't shock me. I had thought they were talking about having sex, especially with the additional lyric "But y'all shouldn't have f**ked with my baby" ("baby" interpreted as partner rather than a baby) which came across from the radio version all the same.
