The dubious credit actually belongs to my cousin, Bonnie who, during our road trips to Marco Island, would passionately belt out the imagined emotional turmoil of being left like "a dove without a shoe". She had me completely convinced her version was the correct one and, although we now stand corrected, I believe Bonnie's version is absolutely better than the original. I'll never sing along using the original lyrics again. It will always be "A Dove Without a Shoe" to me.
