The story:

I was never sure how I felt about these lyrics but figured it was intended to be a powerful expression of love and devotion: either the singer was promising to first stop the world, then send for his love, or, alternately, he was vowing to halt not only the world, but the U.S. Postal System. I was on a bus with a whole crowd of people when I realized that it was actually much, much simpler.
