The story:

I realized I was wrong when it was the first video ever played on MTV. My college roommates and I stayed up all night (as a lot of people did; it was a big event nationwide) awaiting MTV's premier. When the static on the TV broke and the first video came on, with its title shown in graphics on the bottom of the screen, and I realized the lyrics I'd been singing along with whenever I heard that song were wrong, I didn't say a word to my friends. So my embarassment was private. Until now.
