The story:

It didn't take me that long. I was about 10 years old and the song played on a really cruddy transistor radio. I knew it could be the right lyric. I found out what the real lyric was, and, because I thought it was so stupid I never revealed it to anyone lest they think I was brain damaged. Of course, something this stupid has to get out eventually. I told my wife a couple of years back. She asked me how old I was when it happened. I told her I was 10. She said, "I thought you didn't smoke dope until you were in high school. That's too dumb for a non-stoner."
