If I keep on strainin', the lavvy's gonna break...

All last night, sat on the lavvy and moaned....

It got what it takes to make a monkey man leave his home

    Artist: Led Zeppelin
Real Lyric: If it keeps on rainin', the levee's gonna break...All last night, sat on the levee and moaned....It got what it takes to make a mountain man leave his home

    The story:

The industrial north-west of Great Britain is a long long way away fro0m the southern United States. We know nothing of "levees", which we found out only too late are raised embankments on either side of a river in a low-lying flood plain, designed to absorb overflow and prevent flooding in inclement conditions.

However we do have a slang term "lavvy", short for "lavatory" or "toilet".

This made far more sense of the song.

We know the Blues are sung about illness, poveerty, loss and life's painful downer moments. What could be more painful than acute constipation? And the lavvy-busting moment when breakthrough occurs and the bowels finally empty? God help us, that's what we thought the song was about...

the "monkey-man" bit came out of Douglas Adams' "Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy" - Zaphod's put-down of Arthur Dent. How it made its way her, no-one knows!

I laughed so had the tears rolled down my face! The last verses of the song are: "Goin' Down, going down now, Going Down, goin' down now". It fits right in with the story, Even the final few notes of the music are like the pause after you push the flush lever, and then get the gurgle at the end! PRiceless!
