    I blew out my flip-flop; Stepped on a Pop-Tart

    Artist: Jimmy Buffett
Real Lyric: I blew out my flip-flop; Stepped on a pop-top

    The story:

We were all sitting around playing games and listening to Jimmy Buffett after dinner one night. My friend Mark walked in and said that he couldn't stand Jimmy Buffett because they overplay him on the radio. Perplexed, I asked him what station he listens to because they never play the selections that we were listening to. He informed me that one particular station he listens to while he teaches plays "Margaritaville" at least 3 times per day. Then he sings "Blew out my flip-flop, stepped on a Pop-Tart" and the rest of us burst out laughing. After we sang the correct lyrics, he turned red - he had no idea that those were he right words even after hearing the song 3 times per day for weeks on end listening to that radio station and countless other times throughout his life. That song will never be the same for me because his lyrics were so ridiculous. Why would you have to cruise on back home from a cut on your heel caused by a Pop-Tart? :o)
