I'd thought these were the words ever since the song came out.I thought it was an "Italian" influence.It was one of my favourite songs & I'd sing it with great feeling as I was driving along. One day I listened to it on the radio instead of singing along & couldn't believe I'd been singing the wrong words for 40 years.
