I have to say that Simon and Garfunkel songs have probably got the clearest lyrics, particularly when Garfunkel is taking the lead, so any S&G songs with misheard lyrics are probably down to the ears of the listener....

No doubt. But you have to throw in youth as a factor, to. Kids don't have the knowledge or experience to realize that what they think they hear doesn't make sense.
