The Story: Don't eat the fruit in the garden, Eden,, It wasn't in God's natural plan., You were only a rib,, And look at what you did,, To Adam, the father of Man.
The Story: You smell like goat, I'll see you in hell
An intoxicated friend sung the misheard version
while in my car, we argued over whether that
could actually be the lyric. I wasn't sure what
they were actually saying, but it did sound
like it. He ended up slowly convincing me that
the version we heard made sense for the message
of the song. He thought that the song was about
religious war. Bombs, Over, Baghdad, a Muslim
country, like a religious war, so that the
lyrics we heard were illustrating the
differences in the perceptions of diverse
religious groups. I didn't have a rebuttal so I
went along with it.
It wasn't until many years later that I got
around to Googling the song and reading the
lyrics, only to discover that we were not only
wrong about the lyrics themselves, but about
the message of the song too. I'm pretty sure
it's not about religious war.
