    Gilda, Gilda.

    Artist: Frankie Smith
    Real Lyric: My gizzirl!

    The story:

Back in 1981, I was heavily interested in the
original "Saturday Night Live." I really thought
the artist was referring to the late Gilda Radner,
who would be 65 today if she were still with us.
Then I read that Frankie Smith would insert "iz"
before each vowel in the middle of the song, so
"My Girl" would be "My gizzirl." Likewise, the
song "She's a Bad Mamma Jamma" by Carl Carlton,
had the lyrics, "She's built, she's stacked," and
I thought it sounded like, "She's chased. She'd
Chevy Chase her. Now the girls would tell her."
With the old SNL cast, why not sing about them?
