The story:

Well, it wasn't me who always heard them wrong. My father works at a television station, and they used to play television show every day, and the crew used to arugue over what lyrics were right. I can't remember all of the flubs, but I remember listening to the aruguement one day, and being only about 15 myself then, laughed at them and pronouned, "Um, guys, its Gee our old LaSalle ran great." And they all went quite, then aruged that it wasn't...so I looked it up, and tah dah! I proved the group of old fogies wrong. I guess being in television ruins your hearing.
