Everywhere it's been the same, like a miteside in the rain.

The story:

As a young teenager who had just started learning English at school, many song lyrics didn't seem to make sense, such as Joan Baez' 'Oh Lord, won't you buy me a mercy dispense' (I wasn't familiar with the English pronunciation of Mercedes Benz).

One line that haunted me for decades after watching the Rocky Horror Picture Show was Tim Curry's 'Everywhere it's been the same, like a miteside in the rain' (his accent didn't help).
For years I checked every dictionary and encyclopedia for the word 'miteside' or 'mightside', without any success.
(In the meantime I found that there's a place in Cumbria called Miteside, but that's beside the point.)

Once my English improved, I thought of the possibility that it was actually 'like a miticide in the rain', which doesn't make a lot of sense, either.

My trials ended only with the advent of the Internet when I checked out the song lyrics and found: 'Everywhere it's been the same, like I'm outside in the rain.'

Believe me, I did feel like a miteside in the rain!
