Drove my Chevvy to the Lavvy but the Lavvy was dry

That song must have come out when I was about 13 years old, or thereabouts. I had no idea of what a Levee was, but for me a "lavvy" was a local (Glasgow)term for toilet, (i.e.short slang for lavatory). I wondered how Don McLean could know our local lingo, but fortunately never sang out loud at school. If I'd been a Don McLean fan then it might have been more likely, but he was a bit soft for me anyway, way back then. I think that I did discuss it with others, but they had no idea what a Levee was either. I always think of him singing about a dry lavatory though. Lovely image.....
