I'm still fairly sure this is the real lyric. The crombie was a coat favoured by Mods, and there was a mod revival going on in the UK when this song came out. I told my friend Simon I thought it was good that the Stones were in favour of my new mod-ish apparel, and he justlaughted at me. As usual.
