I always knew that my version could not be the real lyrics, seeing as how everything mentioned was an important historical or cultural event, but I had no idea what he was actually saying. Finally, one day I was driving and listening to the song and I realized he was talking about the drug that caused babies to be born without limbs. I still mess up sometimes, though, and sing it my way.
