It's not so much that I realised I'd been wrong all these years... it's just that someone pointed it out to me, and now every time I hear the song, I hear "cheese scones" instead. It even sounds better!

Cheese scones is funny, but my sister, her friend & I originally heard the bogus lyric as "cheese corn" and we giggle everytime we try to sing it to the original tune. (We're Texan, so it must be a southern thing.)
