My coworker always listened to this genre of music on the radio at work (80s hairbands, I guess), and I wasn't very familiar with it yet. But over the next couple of years, I would become VERY familiar with it, playing all day every day and all. So yeah, I just thought the singer was declaring that he was an "animal" - a wild man!
