The story:

I wasn't sure how a train can "fall" so I looked it up. I couldn't find anything, so I asked my Mum about it. She wasn't sure what the Kinks were talking about either. The next time we listened to the song I pointed it out, and how my parents laughed - I laughed too - it was "foreign trade", not "fallen trains". As for the "countenance" rather than "councillors" part, that was another error although it wasn't as embarrassing, I just looked up the lyrics for that.
