The Story: Don't eat the fruit in the garden, Eden,, It wasn't in God's natural plan., You were only a rib,, And look at what you did,, To Adam, the father of Man.
The Story: You smell like goat, I'll see you in hell
I misheard Paperback Writer on the radio when I was maybe 13 or 14, probably following a compilation of Beatles songs with shooting themes (Bungalow Bill, Happiness is a Warm Gun, etc). I didn't think twice about what I heard until sometime in college. I was shocked when I finally realized what were the actual lyrics. I never told anyone until I was married and had kids that were old enough to enjoy my personal Mondegreen. My wife and kids have never tired of bringing up and laughing about my misheard lyrics. Since it has now become a family treasure, every time we hear Paperback Writer we all loudly sing along with "Aim for that Python!" Most recently we were in the audience accompanying Paul McCartney in July at CitiField and last month we were in the audience and backed up the Fab Faux (a great Beatles tribute band) at Queens College with my lyrics when they each performed Paperback Writer. The rest of audience was singing along with the traditional lyrics while my family were laughing and loudly singing "Aim for that Python!"
