I blow bubbles when you are not here

The story:

I had heard the song many times and I knew the lyrics I heard couldn't be the right ones but, when I asked people what she sang, I made the mistake f telling them what I heard first. They would just confirm my misheard, " I blow bubbles . . ."
I finally had the presence of mind to check out the lyrics on the internet about three monthe after the song came out. I still hear those original lyrics, even though they make less sense. I guess it just seems a lot better idea to me to blow bubbles as opposed to the world crumbling in the face of adversity :-)
