My entire life, I thought that this song was about voyeurism - that the lyrics were "you and a brown-eyed girl"- that one guy was fondly remembering his friend's fling with a girl, and that the narrator was remembering watching them "making love in the green grass." When the song came on the radio and I pointed out how weird it was that everyone loved this song. My husband laughed so hard he almost had to pull over to the side of the road.
