The story:

I was eleven when I heard that song over and over again on the radio...didn't make sense, 400 kids propped up in bed, but I had no other idea what he was saying! Figured out only years later, in my teens. I even pictured a bunch of kids propped up in bed--macabre--as if they were dead. No embarrassing moment, because I always knew my version was too ludicrous to share.
