When I heard the song again after refusing to listen to it for some years. I'd thought the singer was condoning abuse and I wouldn't let my kids listen to it...I was so embarrassed when I heard it and understood the correct lyrics (and I checked to be sure I was right this time) even though no one ever knew what I thought
